A Special Event Facility

The Front Porch

The Front Porch has always been a pleasant feature of this home, and has gone through several changes over the years. Prior to 1910 a small uncovered portion to the right of the         existing porch was removed during the 1924 re-modeling process. The uncovered porch on the South side was also removed, but was rebuilt on it’s original foundations during the 1998 restoration.

Contemporary Chandelier with hundreds of Crystal Prisms, Stained Glass windows rescued from an old Jonesboro home,     antique Philadelphia Desk, George Washington Masonic Tall Case Clock—presented to Abb and Pope Dickson in 1976, the guest   bookstand is from a Hannibal Missouri Lecture Hall.. used often by Samuel E. Clemens– Mark Twain during his public speeches.

The generous porch swing and rocking chairs provide a restful place to “watch the world go by.” A ceiling  fan provides cool breezes even on the warmest of days. The uncovered portion of the porch with it’s wrought iron furniture provides an             entranceway into the beautifully landscaped grand lawn and it’s colorful  flowerbeds.

Antique porch rockers are from the Rex Chair Company of Rex, GA., which ceased operation in the 1960’s. theatre display boards holding the history  of the Greenhouse were from the Loews’ Grand Theatre Building in Atlanta– site of the original GONE WITH THE WIND premier.

Entry Hallway

The entry hallway is small, and provides a gracious entrance to the home. French doors , added in 1924, provide a view into the      Ladies Parlor, the Gentleman’s Parlor and the stair hall.

The “candlestick telephone” on the desk was one of the original telephones in the City of        Jonesboro.
