Victorian Christmas at the

Jonesboro Greenhouse

November 15—January 10

The spirit of Victorian Christmas decorates the   Jonesboro Greenhouse from November 15 through January 10 of each year.

Christmas Delights await you even  before you set foot into the lavishly decorated mansion.

Beautiful holiday trees, each trimmed and decorated in different styles adorn every room– designed by Sheila    Kazmerzak, our Catering  Director.

Her sense of style and whimsy will   delight you.

The Ladies Parlor is set for     Holiday Tea, and the tree is trimmed in tiny hand-painted porcelain tea pots, lace          handkerchiefs, pink flowers and gold bows.  Hundreds of lights fill the tree with the warmth and special magic of Christmas….and at the very top of the tree, a Victorian Lady’s Hat provides the crowning touch!

Over the fireplace mantel, a    garland of matching design and lights fills the room with a  holiday glow.

The Gentleman’s Parlor has a tree decorated with real walnut pipes,  raffia bows, apples and berries.  The draperies in this room are from the motion picture Gone With The Wind and came from ‘Rhett Butler’s         Atlanta Bedroom.’

The room is filled with Chinese and Turkish Artifacts– all related to smoking.  Here, you’ll find tintype photographs of Civil War                  Soldiers...and an engraving of Robert E. Lee.            (of course!)
